The history of man reaches back only so far, what we know to be true is only defined by what we have seen. And now something new has entered into our reality. Monsters walk the earth once again and we have once again become very small.

Joe Brody (Bryan Cranston) starts his busy day with wife and child as he tries to determine what is causing definitive malfunctions at his power plant in Japan. With little warning, a huge quake begins to shake apart the very foundation of his world as it takes his place of work and more.

Fast forward to an adult Ford Brody (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), a bomb specialist, father and husband. He returns home from war only to be pulled into another affair. His once proud father has been imprisoned and needs to be bailed out.

While spending quality family time, they stumble upon something much bigger than themselves. A monster has risen and no one is prepared. Crossing the world, it lays waste to whatever is in its path. Man has no hope of stopping it, but perhaps nature has an answer of its own...
